so i’ve never been a huge fan of reading fashion magazines.  i’ve always felt that they were lacking…substance?  maybe it’s the fact that the ads leave little room for what i really want – unique and breathtaking editorials, info on upcoming designers, interviews with fascinating, worldy people. i also try to steer clear of being “fashionable” and would rather be “stylish”…it’s too exhausting, expensive and unrealistic to keep up with fashion so i’d rather just stick to what i like and that which represents my personal style. but they’re great for inspiration and escapism, and long plane trips.

through the blogging world my friend, and now work comrade Ali (i like the socialist term to keep an even playing field, ya know?) discovered a few (mostly foreign) hidden gems that deliver and shared them with me! in fact, when i decorated Ali’s apartment (on-the-cheap), we tiled an entire corner in photos from Lula Magazine.

Lula has a dream-like vibe, Pop is cutting edge (they had 14 year old style blogger Tavi on the cover!) and Jalouse and Numero are fashion-forward French magazines.

I thought fashion mags were supposed to be filled with artsy photos and vapid articles about color matching and skin tones and little else? Of course, if I’m wrong about this then that might explain why I was shoved out of the art world and into a world of science and numbers rather against my will.
