the game of love

it wouldn’t be a Mr. Kate Valentine’s without some DIYzzz!!! i think Valentine’s can get way over-rated and pricey with the prix fixe menus and diamonds but the real meaning behind it all; telling those that you love just how much they mean to you, is pretty great – right!? here’s the first of two DIY eco-friendly Valentine’s cards i made today – will post the other one tomorrow – stay tuned!

start out with: discarded cardboard, a hole punch, scissors, glue, – thread, yarn or twine – piece of ribbon and an old playing card (preferably a heart suit!)

cut out a heart shape from the random cardboard – i used a piece from an old shipping box

use your hole punch to punch holes around the perimeter of the heart shape

thread your yarn, twine or thread through the holes – i used hemp twine which is very eco-friendly

hand-write or print out a little piece of paper that says “you win my heart” or “in the game of love, i won cuz i have you” – punch a hole in the playing card and tie it to the heart with a piece of ribbon and ta da! unique DIY’d Valentine’s card for $0!!!
