natural tan from the inside out

according to a study performed at the university of st. andrews, eating lots of fruits and veggies will actually give you a healthy tan. specifically, dr. ian stephen suggests eating carrots and tomatoes, because they contain carotenoids– which are antioxidants that soak up harmful compounds created by stress. you can read the actual press release here!
i wish i would have known about this when i lived in new york! my friend and i wouldn’t have to resort to laying outside when it definitely was not warm enough to wear a bathing suit.
this the study found that those people who ate more carrots and tomatoes per day had a more golden skin color compared to those that did not. since it’s summer almost all year round here in california, we still have the option to soak up the sun at the beach…but for those still stuck in winter and craving a bronze glow, just up your intake of fruits and veggies!
