dream pad of the moment: essaouira, morocco

hammocks, fire places, and a roof deck.  what more can you need?

Emma Wilson and Graham Carter, both originally from London, made the move to Morocco ten years ago and reinvented their home.  the four story house is built around a central courtyard is decorated with quirky furniture, mostly from the 1960s.  it is a perfect blend between retro and exotic.

Essaouria, is located on the Atlantic coast and was the first seaport city in Morocco. originally, it was a walled city and archaeological shows that this city has been occupied since prehistoric times. in 1506, the king of Portugal ordered a fortress to be built there, hence the enclosed walls.  today, Essaouira remains one of the major fishing harbors in Morocco.

An interesting fact about Essaouria is that most people believe that  ”Castles Made of Sand” by Jimi Hendrix was written about this place, however he actually wrote it two years before he ever visited!

the best part about this vacation house, is that it is available to rent! you can stay there for $420 per person/ week AND kids under the age of four can stay for free.   check it out here.
