smiley travel diary: sunday sailing
the other weekend, my friend took us out sailing for his 23rd birthday in redondo beach. we went out on an hour sailboat ride with a guide who was telling us some crazy stories from when he was a coast guard down in south america. the weather was PERFECT and there wasn’t a cloud in the sky.
Chad & Sean (the birthday boy).
the guide thought it was absolutely hilarious to sail the boat riiight up to the lounging sealions – they clearly weren’t too thrilled about that. we learned about the different parts of the boat – the different types of sails, etc. we also learned that there is no such thing as a rope on a sailboat – they are only called lines and cables.
we brought wine and very appropriately, seaweed snacks.
we tried to convince the guide to take us to catalina (a small island off the coast of california) but he wasn’t having it.
