DIYs of the day: paper bricks & painted lamps
joey and i are going to do some home sprucing this weekend. you’ve heard of spring cleaning, well, we’re doing some fall rearranging. here are 2 fun DIYs that inspired me today.
Paper-Wrapped Brick Book-Ends
What You Need:
- 2 bricks
- fancy paper (check out this site, for some great handmade paper options)
- glue gun or craft glue
Do It:
- clean your bricks and wrap them like you would a present…. donzo!
Spray-painted Thrifted Lamps
What You Need:
- lamp base – there are a ton of dingy lamps at the thrift store but a quick coat of a bright color or clean white brings them back to life! so just buy for shape, not for finish.
- lampshade – check out stores like Ross, Ikea and Home Goods that have a variety of very affordable shades. – Kmart sells spray paint and shades so that could be a one-stop-shop.
- spray paint – color of your choosing
Do It:
- spray paint your lamp base in a well ventilated area – aka, outside. you may need a couple coats. if your lamp base is metal, make sure you get a spray paint that will adhere to metal, just check the info on the can. check out this post for an all you need to know about spray painting.
- top with your shade and an eco-friendly bulb and done!
