design idea: funky rug runners
how much do you love all of these?! i fell in love with the Peacock rug runner from the Rug Company and was inspired to put together this compilation of stair and hallway runners to give you all some interior design ideas!
DO IT!:
hallway
hallway runners are easy to use, just measure the length of your hallway, buy a rug that will fit and cut a liner to fit underneath, for skid-free use. lots of rugs sold online have a runner size, usually 2.5 x 9. you can always get two for long hallways!
you can also DIY your own runner by cutting down a rug to size and binding the edges with rug tape. this Ikea rug, if trimmed on one side, would look like the one in the hallway above!
stairs
you can DIY stair runners by following these steps or you might want to call a carpet installer to come do it for you quickly. of course, if you don’t want to do that, you could always paint your own stair runner! use deck paint and a sealer for wear and tear.
some places to buy runners:
- Dwell Studio’s chevron pattern
- the Rug Market
- pricy but rad Peacock by the Rug Company
- Dash & Albert have great striped options
- some gorgeous Kilim runners here
- Overstock has a ton of inexpensive ones
- Ikea
