DIYable: repurposed persian rug sling chairs
the collaboration between Still + Co. and Sit and Read is AWESOME. and DIYable! basically, they over-dye reclaimed Persian rugs with these bright colors and make them into modern sling back chairs.
each rug is deliberately chosen and then fastened on to the wrought-iron frame. the chairs are handmade in Brooklyn, USA, making each one individual and unique.
these are definitely pieces of art – which justifies the $1650 price. this project kind of resembles a post Kate made a little bit ago featuring the diy sofa covers. dyeing your own fabric is a great way to easily make your room the colors you want it to be – without too much searching. for instructions to dye your own goods, check out the post here.
DO IT!:
- if you have an old sling back chair frame and you want to re-invent the sling part, try this technique!
- use an old rug and over-dye it using fabric dye. then fasten it to your sling frame with upholstery staples or a thick needle and artificial sinew as thread.
