dream pad of the moment: rustic elegant bathroom
wood paneling in a room can be oh-so-retro and wrong but it can also be delicious – like in this bathroom! i love how the horizontal wood panels extend up onto the ceiling and the rustic-ness is off-set by the formal painting, fireplace and marble floor, ornate sink and wall sconces. i also love the look of the wood panels painted pure white behind the sink. i love the touch of the little mirror over the sink – but that might be too small for my big head.
DO IT!
if you are so lucky to have access to old wood paneling to put up in your giant bathroom, complete with a fireplace and marble floors, then go for it! but in the meantime… you could get a similar rustic look by:
- bring in some rustic wood to frame around your existing mirror – just nail them to the wall. you can find wood scrapes on the side of the road, junk yards, etc. hopefully it will have some peeling paint like this wood!
- accent your counter-top and maybe floor with gold painted, marble or stone statues.
- find an old framed painting at the flea market and paint the frame gold and hang it on the wall for that rustic means formal touch!
