i actually recorded this video a while ago when we were re-decorating our office into a reading/game room – check out the Before and After video here! framing fabric is a really easy and beautiful DIY for any room. there are endless fabric options thus, there are endless art and decorating possibilities!

Mr. Kate Framed Fabric Art DIY

Prep It!

  • empty frame – i got mine from the flea market
  • pretty fabric – i recommend something with weight to it like an embroidered or beaded fabric or maybe a velvet. if it’s too thin it will pull and not look as good.
  • hot glue gun and all purpose glue sticks
  • scissors

DO IT!:

  1. glue your fabric to the back of the frame. glue opposite sides to make sure it’s taught.
  2. wait for your glue to dry and trim the fabric.
  3. hang on the wall or prop on a shelf or dresser, etc. pretty!

I love this project, thanks! I myself have 7 or 8 scraps of vintage fabric hanging in some hand-me-down embroidery hoops on my wall.  I love the idea of displaying beautiful fabrics, especially if they are sentimental!

Neat idea! I have a question for you- I have this huge empty wall in my bedroom that I am converting into a “frame wall” with a bunch of things that I love from pictures to quotes to art projects Ive done- and it will be a huge creative thinking space for me (and will hopefully keep the writers block away) :) however, while I have most of my pictures and quotes and projects already picked out- I cant seem to find frames ANYWHERE! I looked in the basic stores and found a few plain ones that I liked but I for some of my things I want quirky vintage odd looking frames with peeling paint and just a lot of personality to them and I have no idea where to find them. I was hoping you might have some ideas as to where I can look? If it helps, I am in San Diego, CA. Thanks! – Audiana
