inspiration from Monet’s gardens

i was in France recently and one of the stops on the trip was at Claude Monet’s Home and Gardens in Giverny right outside Paris. talk about an amazing workshop! i’ve never seen a more beautiful landscape in which to work.

not only did Monet have beautiful gardens, he also treated his home as a canvas which can be seen through his artfully planned interior, from his all-yellow dining room with his DIY’d Limoge place settings, and his 50 shades of blue kitchen, to his beautiful painting studio with high ceilings and oversized window. Monet’s love (or possibly obsession) for Japanese art is apparent as soon as one enters the house, and it’s interesting to see how this form of art lends itself to the impressionist mentality.

i highly recommend a visit if you’re ever in France!
