decorating with canopy mosquito nets

i’ve always loved mosquito nets or bed canopies. not because of their bug combating abilities, although that’s nice too, but more for their romantic vibe! nothing is more dreamy than getting into a bed that’s surrounded by gauzy fabric.

it’s important to note that you don’t have to be a 7 year old, princess-obsessed girl to enjoy a good mosquito net (i mean, you could be!) but there are ways to make them seem grown-up and interior-design chic. Overstock has a ton for sale at delicious prices, they even have the 4 point kind. Amazon also has a lot of options. i prefer the gauze ones to the netting versions and World Market has a great white gauze canopy here!

i also love the idea of tie-tab curtains tied to a canopy bed – if you have one of those.. how great is this lime green one!? these crinkle voile curtains are perfect and come in different color options.

mosquito nets work for outdoor bug protection (duh) and ambiance!

they make a great reading nook…

and how about decorate it with silk flowers? i love the orange tones above. or shop a ready-made (little girl) floral option here...

or in a kid’s room, just make it look like a flower with felt petals and a scrunchie cord cover!

they also come in different colors – like this fancy one from ABC Home.

and if you’re feeling uber crafty, just make a fort with twine and colorful fabric. i also love the heart-shaped garland made out of newspaper and twine! see more fort posts here!

I love this idea! I almost ordered a canopy from the office but I’m going to wait til I get home so I can pick the perfect color for my room. I might throw flowers around the top, but I saw some glow-in-the-dark canopies too and they’ve got me thinking to shoot for the stars

I used to have one when I was a kid, but I got too cool for it as a teenager lol. I loved it at the time though, so pretty!

I really love the green outdoor one. It looks so cozy!
