unique tattoo inspiration

it’s 2013 and i want to get another tattoo – i have two already, one on my baby toe Pedro here and ‘a tattoo’ on my arm seen here. to get inspired i pulled all these photos off Pinterest – see my full tattoo board here.

i like the simplicity of line tattoos, i like the smudgey watercolor colorful ones AND i like the detailed filigree or natural organic ones….so obviously i have some thinking to do. i’ll probably draw or paint my own, i also want to get a sister tattoo with my little sis Tess – like maybe the matching shoulder tattoos above. how cool is the line outline on the person’s hand! i’m really inspired by tattoos, such a cool way to express your unique style!

what’s your favorite? what are your thoughts on tattoos and do you have any of your own?

    I guess my thought is really on longevity – I guess color fades much more quickly? And any filigree line work may ultimately bleed? I have a black/white tattoo of a woodcut print from a book called East of the Sun West of the Moon, which I read as a child, which means a lot to me, but I’m excited to get another one soon…something with a washed appearance might fade, but I might age nicely too as you ultimately wrinkle out… :)

    I love the one w/the girls’ shoulders and a sort of connected composition which is completed by the other person…yay I’m excited to see what you decide to do…

      yes! you have to think of how something ages that’s true. I totally remember that book – you should post a photo here of your tattoo!… I’ll definitely post about it when I figure out what I’m getting. thanks for your comment! xx

    I have a tattoo on my shoulder. It says “Rebel the Darkness. Shine Your Light.” with the signiture of the artist in his own hand writing. I asked him to write it out for me when I was at the filming for his last music video. I’m saving up for another. More quotes I think. The next one if going to be artsy x3 I also want to add another signiture to my existing tattoo. The artist’s violinist has the best autograph ever! I love the sketchy quality of some of the water color tatoos. Really cool.
