DIY design: statement wallpaper on and off the walls

statement walls used to mean paint one wall a bright color and call it a day. but what about texture, or pattern!?in my opinion, statement wallpapers are the way to go. since wallpapers can be pricey, get creative and put your favorite paper:

  • only on one feature wall
  • above a chair molding
  • on a door
  • frame out panels and wallpaper the insides
  • cover an old mirrored sliding door
  • wallpaper on stairs!
  • wallpaper on shelves
  • the top of a table

there’s so many ways to get to use your favorite wallpaper pattern without spending a ton on supplies and labor.

here are some of my favorite statement wallpapers from Anthropologie. there’s wallpaper printed with anything from vintage ceiling tiles, quirky animals, an old opera house photo, paperback books, full wall murals of antiques or an enchanted forest, worn wood – check out another worn wood wallpaper i like – and tons of others in pretty patterns and colors.

if you’re constantly changing up your interiors or rent an apartment that doesn’t allow you to wallpaper the walls, you can try temporary (removable) wallpaper. this one above is from ModCloth and has a fun Moroccan vibe.

another amazing invention in the land of wall decor is customizable wallpaper! create your own wallpaper design from your favorite photos, etc on DesignYourWall.com and Spoonflower

off the walls!… other fun places to put wallpaper:

wallpaper a staircase!

wallpaper within molding

wallpaper on the bottom of shelves

wallpaper on doors

wallpaper a sliding closet door!

as you can see, there’s so many options to get wallpaper-y!
