styling: headpieces

Festival inspo is in the air…but if you’re not heading to Coachella, headpieces are really versatile for festival looks and beyond! I feel like the usual perspective of headpieces is that they are “hippie” or “boho” (both of which I love) but I also think they can be elegant and classy and, dare I say, work appropriate!? It’s all in the styling and because of the split chain, all the headpieces I make in my Mr. Kate jewelry line are wearable with your hair down or up in a top knot or bun.

Here are some looks I styled with headpieces that bring a festival vibe to non-festival-y outfits!

Look 1: Business Festival

DIY Fishtail braid

Look 2: Festival Casual aka I’m Not Going To A Festival but I’m Going to Dinner and A Movie

I wore the Starburst Headpiece last year in last year’s OOTD: Nochella from the #COUCHella video styled with cut-off shorts, a vintage undershirt from the 1800′s and lipstick as facepaint!

Mr. Kate Worm Fossil Headpiece worn by Fashion Toast’s Rumi Neely and Victoria Justice. This headpiece is currently on sale!!

This DIY Fabric Flower headpiece I made from an old sheet and lace ribbon – see the how-to video here.

Winston likes to make his own headpieces out of Mr. Kate necklaces!

I always FAIL majorly when I try to sport a headpiece, but I think I just realized through looking at all your style shots that I need to add more layering of jewelry overall to balance the headpiece. I feel like it always looks really random on me, but with layered necklaces, bracelets, etc, I feel it looks less “Neverending Story”-ish.
